While We Were Still Far Off
My artwork is based on the Greek word καταλλαγή (katallage), which means reconciliation. I wanted to show that reconciliation with God is not just a single event but a journey. The repeated figure represents the same person at different stages of spiritual growth, from despair and separation to searching, hope, and finally reconciliation with Christ.
Christ remains in the same position throughout the painting with His hand already extended, emphasizing that God always takes the first step toward us. The increasing glow in the man's heart symbolizes the transformation, new life, and restored relationship that come through Christ.

Living Sacrifice
The Holy Cross
This work is split into quadrants through the center by a Cross. This same Cross also forms the seams that reconstruct the art. The Holy Cross in this piece signifies both the death of our Lord Jesus Christ and the renewed hope for mankind's salvation only His divine sacrifice could bring. By His Holy Cross, we are made whole.
The Dichotomy of Colour
In this piece, I used a high-contrast palette of deep, muted earth tones paired with a vivid, striking red. This is the first time I've ever applied such a striking variation. The inversion of these colours creates a mirror effect. While the intense blood red tone signifies the death of our Lord, the earthy, warm contrast signifies His Resurrection.
My message is simple. As we celebrate the Birth and Resurrection of Christ heartily, we must not shy away from His persecution and death as well.
The Crown of Thorns
While illustrations of Christ with a crown of thorns are quite common, I did this particular aspect a little differently. The crown was illustrated with heavy, chaotic linework. This conveys immense weight and suffering. The eyes of Christ however are deeply personal, looking directly at us with a piercing, somber clarity rather than defeat.
I hoped to capture the weight of His sacrifice in this moment. His eyes convey calm, certainty and peace. “Your sins are washed away. You must not worry.” This is His message to us today.
Our bible passage is Galatians 2:20. It not only acknowledges Christ's sacrifice, but also emphasizes that we were crucified with him. Our old lives are gone and we are reborn in the Glory of God.
Finally, the heavy grain and gritty, ink-slashed textures were meant to reinforce the raw, vulnerable, and personal nature of the journey of Faith all Christians must embark on.
